Exciting!

Okay, I have a lot of studying to do, but I wanted to tell you all this. 

Yesterday, we found out some pretty sketchy information about one of the yell leader candidates from the corps. Last semester, he got a DWI, and a possession of marijuana charge against him! Yes, that's right, the corps, who normally pick very good candidates that always seem to win, decided to pick someone with a criminal history...that was incredibly recent!

Well anyways, we didn't want to spread the news, because we didn't want it to look like Andrew was trying to run a smear campaign, but we felt that it should be out in the open because we didn't want someone like him being the face of the university. We didn't really know what to do, but thankfully we didn't have to, because some pretty important organizations on campus found out and started spreading the word, which made him drop out of the race. So now the corps doesn't have a second yell leader candidate that will be on the ballot. They are going to try and do a write-in campaign with him, but that will be incredibly difficult to do. Andrew has a very good shot of getting one of the positions now!

We just have to keep getting his name out and spreading the word. 

Okay back to english, but I thought that you should know that Andrew has a very good chance of getting the position now!

Campaign and Rain

Hi all!

Well this week is pretty crazy right now. Andrew's campaign for yell leader is going extremely well, and it feels like he really has a shot at getting yell leader. check out his website and his video. it's pretty funny. 

I also found out some grades from before spring break. I made a 102 on my philosophy paper (!) and then made an 85 on my history paper about Thomas Paine and Common Sense. I am kind of disappointed in the 85 and felt wrongly judged on a few things, but oh well. I will know differently for next time. I am going to try and post the phil paper on here in some form or fashion, so you can read it if you want. It was a product of an all night writing session that turned out pretty good. 

It just started raining here tonight. Pouring is probably a better word for it. There has been an 80% chance all week and finally all that pent up energy came down in a torrent of wind and water. It felt good actually. There was such an anticipation in the air all week before it and now it is gone. A new sense of calm now settles over the landscape. It's like all week the storm has been brooding, getting angrier and just letting it out in small dosages, until now, and now it can get whatever is bothering it off its chest. 

I hope that helps storm.

School and Life

Hello again!

Here is some music to read along to!

Life has been busy lately. I ran my first marathon in 3:44 and it was the most painful and excruciating thing I have ever done, but I plan on doing another one this fall.

School has been going well, but is getting harder and harder with more to do. I just finished my first history paper of the semester, and tests have been a success so far.

I am running a race called the Texas Independence Relay this weekend. It should be legit, and my team may win it. Go Poison Ivy League!

As I now have netflix, I just watched one of the most best movies I have ever seen. Many people think that a foreign film cannot produce the same emotions as a film in English because you have to read what the characters are saying. I disagree completely, as most of the foreign films I have seen have made me feel the most passionate about what I have seen. Anyways, here is the movie I saw.

So, it's been awhile. I'm sorry internet

Since I have been on hiatus from this most magical undertaking called gngl, many things have happened. Christmas, New Year's, and the start of school. I truly love my classes and hope that things work out this semester, instead of like last time where they were slightly better than awful but much worse than bad.

Goals for now:

-All A's
-A 3:10 Marathon in February
-The US Men's National Team beating the crap out of Mexico in the ice bowl in February. (I guess that isn't really a goal, but more like a wish)
-To update this thing once a week.

It's Winter time

It's foggy and cold outside. The fog drapes itself around me and leaves me feeling cold but safe. I love winter. It is such a dreary time, with its darkness and frigid air, but it's my favorite time of year. I think it is because you can feel down and swept away in that funk where you know everything and don't know anything. Where you feel the emotions of the day, but they leave you feeling the same. Where life seems to stand still while you find that perfect quote or poem or song for that certain moment. You can feel all of this, and it doesn't matter because it's winter, and you are allowed to feel this way when it's winter time.

In this winter funk (that is what I will call what i just described), I thought of something that I think you should think about (if that makes sense). Where would you be if you could be anywhere, with anyone, at any time doing anything? the possibilities are endless, but I don't ever think like that, and I doubt you do either. Try it, and then let that feeling of happiness and comfort wash over you. then, I think you will be able to experience how winter makes me feel.

Some things about me

So, here are some things that define me:

1. I am a huge soccer fan. My favorite teams are and always will be FC Dallas, and the US Men's National Team. I also like the English Premier League, but don't really have a team that I root for. I also will occasionally write about soccer related things, and hopefully present a different approach to writing about the beautiful game.

2. I am a runner. I run a lot. I may write about this sometimes.

3. I really love indie music. It is so different from the mainstream, but also seems so much more real and from the heart than other music. I am very passionate about music, and may write about that as well.

4. I go to school at Texas A&M University, and am so very proud that I can say that. This school is my home, and I couldn't go anywhere else for my education. I could write about this at some point too.

5. Lastly, at least for now, I have a mantra, or a quote to live by. It was said by Sir Cecil Beaton, and goes like this:

"be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary. "

and who knows, I may write about this too.

First Edition

Becoming a legend is a difficult task for any young blogger, especially a rookie such as the one typing these words to you. Legends have years of experience, and actually have something to say. Legends strive for some goal far off in the distance, struggling to be heard amongst the tumultuous and the faceless. Legends have thousands of followers, and believe their words make the difference in the fight against whatever it is they are fighting against. Eventually legends are successful, becoming iconic to a few and a hindrance to the well established. I don't want to be legend. I'm not really fighting for anything, beyond the occasional good grade (the very occasional) and even then it isn't really a fight, but more like a scuffle, or at worst a slap fight in which the loser just goes home crying out of embarrassment for getting into a slap fight.

I have never had a blog before, and don't really know what to put in one, but I read a lot of them, and do have opinions, so I guess this is the place for me.

I hope I don't disappoint.
